There are those of us who board the plane, sit down in our seats, and are content to listen to a podcast or read a book until we arrive at our destination.
And then there are those entitled or just downright crazy passengers who enter a plane and make travel miserable for everyone else — especially flight attendants.
These travelers expect the entire crew to cater to their travel experience by pushing the call button and making the most ridiculous requests – then throwing a fit when they are denied.
And hey, we’re not talking about asking for earbuds or more ginger ale.
People ask for crazy stuff – like expecting the captain to check the score of the game to wanting their coffee served at a specific temperature.
Here are some of the most ridiculous (and annoying) requests flight attendants have received over the years.
This Isn’t Starbucks
Airlines are not known for their exquisite selection of food and drinks.
In fact, the food is so burnt and processed – even airline attendants refuse to eat it.
Yet some people hop on a plane with their economy seats – and push the call button to order items as if the world suddenly caters to their personal food cravings.
Flight attendants have confessed people ask for everything from bone broth to even a venti flat white with two pumps of white mocha – at a certain temperature.
Not sure what reality these passengers live in, but people who ask for such crazy stuff deserve any ridicule they receive.
No, You Can’t Eat The Flight Attendants Personal Food
Some crazy passengers even ask for or take the flight attendant’s personal food!
Insider reported:
“I would have passengers ask me if they could have some of my food I brought on board,” Shawn Kathleen told Insider. “I’d have a little cooler with food in, and they’d say ‘can I eat some of yours?’ That’s not uncommon.”
She added: “I’ve had colleagues where they have their food out and they step away for a few minutes and someone took their sandwich.”
Some people really have no shame.
You Are Not At A Hotel – You Are On A Plane
On a short 1-2-hour domestic flight – some passengers use the call button to ask for items like toothbrushes and Q-tips.
As if the eco ticket they bought covers all these special hygiene kits for a domestic flight!
And let’s face it – airlines are stingy. Some even charge for peanuts. No, they’re not going to provide you mouthwash so you can freshen up your breath on the plane.
They want to get you from point A to point B (sometimes) then throw you off so the next group of people can board.
So pack your own travel size stuff and head into the bathroom yourself – but please spare pushing the call button to ask a flight attendant for Q-tips.
Whiny And Tattletale Passengers
Some passengers expect flight attendants to act like parents and intervene in every uncomfortable situation.
“Her knees hit my seat!”
“His music is too loud!”
“I don’t like the smell of her perfume!”
Here’s a pro-tip – traveling on a plane means you’re with hundreds of other people who are all trying to survive the flight just like you.
And some of them are going to be crazy, like the lady who boarded the plane with her “emotional therapy” squirrel.
Others are completely inconsiderate and will recline their seat all the way, not caring if it crushes your legs.
Be an adult and handle your own stuff. And sometimes that means ignoring the things that annoy you.
Your already overworked flight attendant is slammed busting her tail to give 100+ needy passengers their complementary drink – so please don’t annoy her even more by pushing the call button so she can come over and tell the guy next to you to turn his music down.
She’s Not Your Maid
Flight attendants are not personal maids designed to cater to every passengers’ personal (and often ridiculous) needs.
Of course, if there is a true emergency – like someone is seriously sick or injured — the call button should be pushed – that’s why it’s there.
But if you push the call button like the hipster craving bone broth or the diva wanting a venti flat white with two pumps of white mocha — we are embarrassed for you.
Have you ever pushed the call button on a plane?
What do you think about passengers who abuse this feature and make ridiculous requests?
