A pilot yells “Let’s Go Brandon!” over the airline intercom.
Another one gets into a fight with a flight attendant, resulting in broken and missing teeth.
From airline employees who refuse to get vaccinated, to others getting aggressive and outspoken about their beliefs – the airline industry is finally admitting they’ve lost control over their staff.
In fact, things have gotten so bad at Southwest Airlines, Chief Executive Gary Kelly had to send out an email to employees reminding them of their ‘Golden Rule’ and begging them to “treat others nicely.”
Paddle Your Own Kanoo reported:
“The sobering reality is we are seeing an alarming increase of behavior that stands in stark contrast to our long-cherished north star of following the Golden Rule, and that is beyond disappointing,” Kelly wrote in new memo to Southwest employees following weeks of rising tensions.
Southwest’s ‘Golden Rule’ is short and very simple – “Treat others as you would like to be treated”.
“Let me be clear, any behavior that deviates from this deeply rooted core value of our company is unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” the memo continued. “Put simply, enough is enough,” Kelly wrote.”
Well… yeah.
When you force a bunch of freedom-loving pilots to get vaccinated against their will or otherwise lose their jobs – you’re going to see pushback.
Airline employees have taken a beating this year from their employers.
Delta actually sent out an email to their employees asking them to “volunteer” to clean airport lounges due to “staffing shortages” …
… as if the employees should take the hit because a bunch of their friends were laid off and now airlines don’t have enough staff to perform all the duties that need to be done.
And you know the whole “if you’re sick, don’t come to work” policy that nearly every employer (who actually cares about their employees) follows?
Well, American Airlines is so desperate for workers – they’re actually paying flight attendants a massive bonus for “not getting sick” over the holidays…
… as if getting sick is something that can be controlled!
Paddle Your Own Kanoo reported:
“Flight attendants will rake in 150 percent pay if they turn up as scheduled to work flights between November 23 and November 29, as well as between December 22 and January 2, 2022. Those earnings could then be doubled to 300 percent pay if flight attendants don’t go sick between November 15 through January 2, 2022.”
Ridiculous.
So basically, the flight attendants that need the extra cash will likely show up to work sick anyways and pretend to be healthy.
Or they’ll simply feel too guilty to call in sick due to the ridiculous amount of pressure their employers are placing on them – and still come to work.
Instead of valuing the physical and mental health of their employees – the airlines are treating them like cattle.
Not to mention, a bunch of sick flight attendants serving pretzels in between coughs is likely to cause others to get sick too.. masks or not.
So it’s no wonder so many flight attendants have snapped… their stress is through the roof!
And Biden’s vaccine mandate is already starting to ruin peoples livelihoods, with United Airlines placing unvaccinated employees on unpaid leave.
The employees tried to fight back – and while they ultimately lost – even the judge commented on how heartless United is, and how awful they treat their employees.
Paddle Your Own Kanoo reported:
“Last week, Judge Mark Pittman dismissed the lawsuit against United but also took aim at the airline, saying the court was “disturbed by United’s seemingly calloused approach to its employees’ deeply personal concerns with injecting a foreign substance into their bodies”.
Judge Pittman continued, saying United had “instituted a regime in which nothing short of complete compliance with its commands will suffice. Any dissenters will be given the trifling pittance of indefinite unpaid leave”.
If airlines aren’t careful – their unreasonable demands and lack of disregard for their own employees is going to end up costing them in the long run when they finally get fed up enough – and quit.
And from the looks of things… these weary employees are already showing signs of rebellion in a major way.
And it’s bound to only get worse unless something changes.
Do you think airlines treat their employees well?
Do you think there should be a better solution?
