4) Stargaze on Top of the World’s Largest Mountain
The Big Island is home to Mauna Kea, the tallest mountain on the planet if measured from base to summit. From its ocean base, Mauna Kea is 33,474 feet tall compared to Mount Everest at 29,029.
And unlike Everest, you can drive to the top of Mauna Kea (assuming you have a 4WD vehicle and get a little lucky with the weather). From the top of the mountain on a clear day, you can view the entire Big Island and even Maui.
From the top of the mountain on a clear night, you will see more stars than you thought imaginable. It’s breathtaking.
