When most people envision a romantic getaway, they likely dream of a trip to Paris or a quiet secluded beach on some remote island.
But let’s be honest – not everyone has the time (or money) to jet off to Paris for a quick weekend getaway.
The good news is – you can still experience the romantic vacation you’ve always dreamed of right here in America if you head to one of these cities.
Williamsburg, Virginia
Normally thought of as a must-see city for history buffs – Williamsburg has a romantic and classic charm that is sure to attract any couple.
To start – the slower pace of life is bound to help you relax and unplug. Unlike busy metropolitan cities, Williamsburg marches to their own beat – with style.
Snap a few photos (or steal a kiss) against a beautiful backdrop like the Crim Dell bridge located at the William & Mary Campus. This wooden bridge is a favorite spot for many local couples with its classic charm woven with rustic elegance.
Snag an early dinner at Giuseppe’s Italian Restaurant and enjoy their Chesapeake Bay Cioppino made with lump crab, shrimp, scallops, calamari, and mussels tossed in a tomato-saffron broth.
Yum!
And after a full day of exploring and eating, enjoy a couples massage at the Spa of Colonial Williamsburg and let the hands of a skilled masseuse melt the stress away.
Charleston, South Carolina
Cobblestone streets lined with palm trees complete with a pineapple fountain and pastel-colored houses – what’s NOT to love about Charleston!
Besides the good weather and friendly people – you can experience the southern charm and grace in one of the best cities in America.
Start your trip with a visit to The Battery for a scenic walk or check out the Pineapple Fountain in Riley Waterfront Park.
If you prefer a more intimate experience, you can cuddle up with your significant other and take a horse-and-carriage ride through town.
Afterwards, you and your sweetheart can enjoy a fine meal at Circa 1886 located in the original carriage house of the Wentworth Mansion in downtown Charleston.
Circa 1886 has classic favorites like shrimp n’ grits – but you can also sink your teeth into something more adventurous like Chef Marc Collin’s maple leaf farms duck breast or garlic striped bass.
Already been to Charleston?
Don’t worry!
Charleston is an amazing city – you can never visit too often or run out of new things to explore.
Maui, Hawaii
And of course – our list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning Hawaii.
There’s a reason so many couples honeymoon in Maui – the natural beauty and breathtaking sunsets are enough to make anyone fall (and stay) in love.
From the soft sandy beaches to the luxurious resorts – enjoy the spa services and the beauty of Hawaii with colorful sunsets in the background – although it will cost you a pretty penny.
Flights aren’t cheap – and Hawaii is expensive – but if you have the resources and can afford to take a romantic trip to Hawaii – do it!
And remember – even if you can’t get away for a Valentine’s Day trip – it’s always a good time to take a romantic vacation any day of the year!
Happy Valentine’s Day.
