Some travelers like to push the envelope and travel to exotic – and even dangerous places.
And while the thrill of an adrenaline rush can be enough to satisfy risk takers and adrenaline junkies alike – some places are so dangerous to visit they could even get you killed.
Wondering what travel destinations made our list for the most dangerous spots in the world?
Death Valley, California
The name alone is enough to cause most travelers to say “no thanks”…
… but then there are those who want to travel here just to say they did.
Despite the name – Death Valley is a popular tourist attraction bringing in over 1 million people every year.
As one of the hottest places on earth – certain places (like Furnace Creek) have reached temperatures as high as 134 °F!
Some choose not to say in their cars…
… only to pass out and die from heatstroke and dehydration.
And if the heat won’t kill you – the rattlesnakes might.
Yeah – no thanks – I’ll avoid adding this one to my bucket list!
North Cascades National Park, Washington
This national park has the highest death rate in the country with a higher death rate than any other site in the park system, reported NBC.
The rugged and steep mountains are reported to have very few roads or structures – and many of the deaths resulted in falls.
A former ranger spoke out about the deaths she knew about and agreed it was from people plunging from mountains or being crushed by rocks.
NBC News reported:
“Kelly Bush, a former ranger who worked for North Cascades for more than three decades and oversaw its search and rescue operations, said many of the deaths she knew about were among alpine climbers and hikers — people plunging from mountains or fatally wounded by falling rock and ice.”
There are plenty of other national parks to visit – I think I’ll sit this one out.
Cliffs of Moher, Ireland
This is one travel destination that is worth the risk.
The breathtaking views of Ireland from the rugged cliffs is a once and a lifetime experience…
… that is if you stay on the path.
There are no guardrails stopping you from falling – and selfie-seeking folks and others who like to test the limits have tragically found themselves killed.
The Irish Times reported:
“Last Friday, 26-year-old Anand Goel, a Trinity College Dublin student from Delhi, India, died when he fell from the Cliffs of Moher as he tried to take a selfie photograph at the landmark.
Eyewitnesses saw him fall 600ft to his death from the cliffs, approximately 1km away from the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience.
Rangers patrol the walking trail, known as the Cliffs of Moher Coastal Walk, warning members of the public who go out of bounds. However, visitors continue to take their lives in their hands every year and leave the path to sit or stand on cliff ledges.”
If you can visit Ireland and avoid the temptation of taking selfies in dangerous spots – this deadly location is a must visit!
