Mr. Happy Burger
3131 E. Market St.
Logansport, IN 46947
In the world of fast food burgers, we are given a duopoly of choice—McDonald’s or Burger King.
Just like our two party system, we are forced to choose between the lesser of two evils, often leading to mediocrity at best—if not complete and utter ruin.
The tyranny of the two burger system must come to an end. No longer should people across America be forced to choose between McDonald’s and Burger King.
Unfortunately, smaller fast food burger joints are usually just a flash in the pan, much like the Reform Party of the 1990s.
But ladies and gentleman: I have found the third party of the fast food burger world and it’s in Logansport, Indiana.
I’m talking about Mr. Happy Burger.
In a sea of McDonald’s and Burger King, Mr. Happy Burger has found itself a footing in North Central Indiana.
And this place has all the flair and intrigue of a third party candidate.
Like, there is a giant cow statue out front.
The inside is decorated with tons of Coca-Cola collectibles, and a small toy train runs around the perimeter of the ceiling.
Not to mention it has two drive-up windows, just like Rally’s—although, it’s set up seemed a little awkward. Kind of like Gary Johnson running as a Libertarian.
Anyways, since I had been in Logansport that morning for a business meeting, I asked a local where he’d recommend for lunch. He suggested Mr. Happy Burger because it’s unique to Logansport and a novelty. I took his advice and headed right there.
As I pulled up, I could tell I was going to like this place. It was unique. Heck, there’s a giant cow out front!
I didn’t spend much time looking at the menu because the Bulls-Eye Bacon Cheeseburger caught my eye almost immediately.
Instead of fries, I ordered a salad from their salad bar. That’s right, kids. A fast food burger joint with a salad bar. I should also mention this place serves fresh pizza!
I held off from the pizza, but it could have been a good option.
I received a plate for my salad while my burger cooked. While it was your basic salad bar, the quality was on point. The salad was fresh, as was the potato salad. In fact, the potato salad was excellent! Yes, a fast food burger joint with good potato salad. I know, it’s great.
My burger came out a couple minutes later. It smelled and looked delicious. Only one thing was missing—all the toppings.
Apparently, I was supposed to order it with lettuce, tomato, onion? Oh well, I ate it just as it was—burger, bacon, cheese, BBQ Sauce.
For fast food, I was impressed.
On my way out, I grabbed a Coke for the road and said so long to Mr. Happy Burger!
Now, I won’t sit here and tell you that this place was crazy off the charts, but I will say that if you are in Logansport, skip the McDonald’s and Burger King and give Mr. Happy Burger a chance.
It has a larger menu, better ambiance, and the food is certainly better.
Even better, it’s the little guy fighting against the big guys in an unfair and rigged fight. So of course you’ve got to root for the little guy.
It’s the only way we will ever end the duopoly that controls the world of fast food burgers.
Rating: Seriously thought about buying the shirt to support fast food liberty, but realized I’d rather just write about it.
