Toronto
The capital city of Ontario, Toronto has the largest population in all of Canada.
But it also has some of the lowest crime rates in all of North America. In fact, Canada is notoriously known for leaving their doors unlocked. And Toronto is one of the safest cities in the entire world.
One of the most renowned things you can do in Toronto is eat at the St. Lawrence Market, located in historic Old Town. It is literally ranked the best food market in the world by National Geographic magazine. And the restaurant scene is so magnificent, Vogue magazine ranked it amongst the best in the world.
Toronto has six Chinatowns, which is probably five too many, but it’s still pretty neat. Torontonians love Chinese dumplings.
Toronto is also unbelievably clean. Like you can practically eat off the subway floor clean. Still wouldn’t recommend it, but you will prefer it to New York City’s subways for sure.
Superstar rapper Drake and the Toronto Raptors are both staples in this town. Drake is notoriously known for being the nicest guy, except when he and rapper Pusha-T recently had a semi-malicious rap battle. But if you listen to the lyrics in his songs, they are largely respectful towards everyone.
While you won’t find Drake performing street music in Kensington Market, the music there is fantastic.
Fun Fact: Toronto has become the New York City of Canada…. In the movies that is. Because of the tax incentives, Toronto often doubles as New York City in films, saving production costs. So you might even see an A-list star up there when you visit.
