No visit to St. Thomas would be complete without relaxing at Magens Bay beach. While the beach suffered extreme hurricane damage, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and the U.S.V.I government recently completed a restoration project on this special spot.
CruiseCritic reported on the project:
“…particularly this bay. It’s so iconic, to the people here and also to our guests.”
“We wanted to help but the needs were so overwhelming. We knew that…we wanted to find something that would make a difference and be something that mattered. This was perfect. It is such an important place and someplace that people here feel very emotional about.”
Among the repairs undertaken…the planting of more than 530 new trees, palms and shrubs. A further 470 trees were nursed back to life by an arborist brought in from Florida.
