A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…
For decades, people of all ages have been mesmerized by the Star Wars saga.
These movies have inspired fans to daydream about becoming Jedi Knights or Rebel Leaders in the fight against the evil empire.
And thanks to Disney’s newest theme park, fans can now travel to Galaxy’s Edge and live out their dreams.
Galaxy’s Edge is the newest expansion in the Disneyland theme park located in California.
This new park opened in June of 2019 and is devoted entirely to the Star Wars franchise of films created by George Lucas.
The Walt Disney Company acquired Lucasfilm Ltd. in October of 2012 and has since launched a wave of new media including TV series, video games, even a new trilogy of films.
But what has fans most excited is Galaxy’s Edge.
This park is every fan’s dream.
From a life-size model of Han Solo’s Millennium Falcon, to a cantina where you can try Tatooine’s famed Blue Milk, to a top-secret location where you can build and customize your very own Jedi lightsaber, this park has it all!
Just look out for the First Order Stormtroopers. They’re everywhere and may interrogate anyone whom they suspect is working with General Organa’s Resistance.
If you’re lucky, you may even run into a few Resistance hero’s while visiting the Planet of Batuu. Rumor has it that Chewbacca and the possibly new Jedi, Rey, are on this very planet trying to avoid the First Order.
Galaxy’s Edge is divided into two sections.
The first section, Resistance Forest, is where you’ll find the ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance which opens in 2020.
The second section is Black Spire Outpost and is the main trading port where visitors can find shops, food, and much more.
Rather than a central-themed giftshop, there are many shops scattered around the post, making it feel much more like a market. There are also several eateries, from more formal restaurants to counter-service like Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo.
Oga’s Cantina is the first of its kind where alcohol will be served in one of Disney’s theme parks. It is inspired by the cantina Luke and Obi-Wan Kenobi visit in Star Wars Episode 4, A New Hope.
Oga’s features many exciting cocktails inspired by the Star Wars galaxy.
Galaxy’s Edge is a park truly brimming with detail.
The Walt Disney Company and its engineers were able to bring the Planet of Batuu to life and provide an unforgettable experience for parkgoers.
Even the shops and restaurants have incredible detail, from alien writing on the walls, to droid parts being lain about, to its own cast of alien creatures.
Each cast member who works in the park has been trained and comes with his or her own backstory unique to Galaxy’s Edge.
