With skyrocketing inflation rates and gas over $5 a gallon in most places – Americans are pinching pennies like never before.
And when times get tough, one of the first things to go is fun activities and outings like a day at the amusement park.
But amusement parks are determined to lure guests back – and they’ve even resorted to offering “free beer” with ticket purchases – and just wait until you hear the details.
What is it with people thinking Americans are just a bunch of gullible drunks?
Last summer we had Biden promising the nation a round of free beer if enough people got vaccinated.
Companies are enticing people to apply by promising free beer as a benefit.
New York airports were busted charging $27 for a pint of beer – and while a few people actually paid that much (and got refunded later) – most of us don’t need a beer that bad.
And now amusement parks are hoping that promising “free beer” will be enough of an incentive to get people through their gates again.
So just how many places are offering free beer?
As it turns out – many of them. And all around the country.
SeaWorld, San Antonio is offering their season and annual pass holders one complimentary beer this summer through August 6th. Of course, annual tickets start at $109.99 apiece and go all the way up to $249.99 each so it’s not exactly “free” beer now is it?
Busch Gardens, Tampa Bay is upping the ante and offering not one, but two, free beers through August 7th.
Likewise, Busch Gardens, Williamsburg (voted the world’s most beautiful theme park for 32 years) is also offering members and annual pass holders up to two free complimentary beers.
And don’t worry if you don’t have an annual pass – they’re letting all guests have a shot at cheap beer and only charging 50 cents for a beer.
And yes – they are promoting day drinking too.
Busch Gardens Williamsburg posted their rules for “Cheers to Free Beer All Summer Long” on their website:
“Busch Gardens Williamsburg is celebrating all things summer with the return of FREE BEER! June 17 – August 14, Members & Annual Pass Holders over the age of 21 can enjoy one complimentary 7 oz. beer per day at Grogan’s Grill located in Ireland.
Plus, the toasts continue with two 7 oz. 50 cent beers for all guests 21+.
Busch Gardens encourages all to drink responsibly. The 7-ounce ice cold draft will be available at the park daily from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.”
Sure beats $27 for a pint at LaGuardia airport in New York.
But is all of this really a good idea?
I mean that’s just what we need…
… people chugging beer and then hopping on a roller coaster – alcohol sloshing around in one’s stomach combined with the summer heat is enough to leave anyone dehydrated – and nauseous.
And do these amusement parks really think anyone is going to fork over hundreds of dollars for an annual pass just to score a “free beer”?
Sure college kids would – but they are broke and don’t have the money for a pass in the first place.
And if beer is being offered at 50 cents – it can’t be the best quality beer, especially for the rest of us with a more refined taste.
But I’m sure some folks will take advantage of this latest summer promotion.
I sure hope these amusement parks know what they’re in for!
