A female passenger woke up to a man groping her – and the guy blamed his inappropriate actions on “turbulence.”
Two guys self-appoint themselves to a first-class upgrade mid flight – causing the pilot to divert an international flight and turn back around.
In the latest edition of passengers behaving badly, it seems like “cabin fever” has struck yet again – and you won’t believe the latest wildest stories of travelers gone rogue.
Remember the good ol’ days when we reported on an “unruly” passenger who simply walked barefoot on the plane, or listened to their music too loud?
Yeah, those days are gone.
In today’s wacky “new normal” – if that’s all a passenger did aboard a flight, they’d win an award for best behavior.
These days, unruly passengers continue to push the limits – almost as if they’re competing for the craziest story.
Most recently, a woman claims she was taking a nap on her flight from Vegas to D.C. – only to open her eyes and discover a man named Ivan Lopez groping her chest!
She screamed and the passenger got up to move – admitting to flight attendants what he had done yet blaming it on the “turbulence” of the flight.
Even though the victim claimed he groped her for ten seconds – Lopez claimed he was “just trying to get her attention.”
The Miami Herald reported:
“When the FBI agent interviewed Lopez the same day, he said “he wanted to get the woman’s attention by poking her on her right shoulder, so that he could ask her what she was listening to through her headphones,” the agent wrote.
However, the agent wrote, Lopez said turbulence caused him to “accidentally” poke “her breast.”
And then there are passengers who just can’t sit down and be quiet during their flight.
A United Airlines flight headed to Tel Aviv, Israel was forced to turn around and head back to Newark when two passengers self-appointed themselves to storm first class and sit – hoping to enjoy the rest of their flight in luxury.
Apparently, the flight attendants confronted the passengers which caused enough commotion the pilot decided it wasn’t safe – so he turned the entire plane around.
Turning a flight around is no joke – and costs airlines a lot of money.
Paddle Your Own Kanoo reported:
“According to civil aviation regulators, the cost to divert a plane due to an unruly passenger can be as much as $108,000. This takes into account fuel costs, airport charges, staff costs, compensation for delayed passengers and rerouting costs.
The two passengers who clashed with flight attendants on the United Airlines flight to Tel Aviv were removed by law enforcement but it is not known whether they were arrested.”
So what’s the deal with all these unruly passengers?
It looks like the COVID-19 scare campaign has caused a stir craziness in folks – emboldening them to forgo all social norms and just go completely nuts.
Perhaps they’ve forgotten how to operate like a normal member of society because they’ve been stuck at home for so long.
Or they could be rebelling against authority just because.
Clearly, other unruly passengers are downright mentally ill.
Regardless – the Federal Aviation Administration is cracking down on unruly passengers BIG TIME – and those who break the laws are finding themselves saddled with massive fines or even jail time.
So on your next flight – be prepared for anything.
You could just witness the next episode of a passenger behaving badly!
