Mayan History
First of all, Cozumel has a rich ancient Mayan history and profound archaeological sites you can explore.
If you want to see the Mayan ruins and pyramids, take a short 45-minute ferry trip and bus ride to Chichen Itza, a 6-square-mile UNESCO world heritage site and natural wonder of the world. It has some wonderful eye-popping structures from those ancient days.
Also on the island is Discover Mexico Park, a quaint park that offers a cultural tour. Featuring local artwork and sculptures, it’s the best representation of Old Mexico. There’s a chocolate workshop where you can make your very own chocolate and there’s even a “Tequila tasting experience”, which you can probably guess what that entails!
