Planning a trip to Hawaii this summer?
Well, in addition to packing your swimsuit and shades, starting on August 1st, you’ll need to bring valid test results which prove you don’t have COVID-19 – or you’ll be quarantined for 14 days.
Reaching a whole new level of insanity, Hawaii released their new plans to keep Hawaii “safe” and the details are seriously scary.
Yes, even if you don’t have COVID-19 and are not experiencing any symptoms like a high fever or cough – unless you have a negative test in your hands, you are subject to a 14-day quarantine upon arrival.
And of course, you are expected to pay for the cost of the test out of pocket.
Insurance companies may cover some of the cost, but if they don’t, people can expect to pay $100 to $150 a pop – which can be a real and unnecessary expense for a family of 5 simply trying to take a Hawaiian vacation.
Remember the outcry from politicians demanding only those who have symptoms get tested?
Now, perfectly healthy families must show proof they don’t have COVID-19 just to walk down the beach in Hawaii, or otherwise face getting arrested.
What a waste of money.
It’s no wonder Hawaii made Proud American Traveler’s list of the top 4 worst states for freedom lovin’ Americans to visit.
Oh and if you don’t have a test and think you’ll just take one when you arrive at the airport – well, Hawaii wants you to know they’re not testing upon arrival. So you’ll be out of luck and forced to quarantine.
And not only is the Governor of Hawaii demanding travelers prove they don’t have COVID-19 – he’s mandating they get a certain kind of COVID-19 test.
Any visitor to Hawaii must get an “FDS-approved PCR test from a CLIA-certified laboratory,” writes the Governor in his press release.
As if anyone even knows what that means.
The Points Guy reported:
“Well, a PCR test is testing for the presence of an active infection, as opposed to an antibody test that is testing to see if you had the virus in the past and now have antibodies. A PCR test is generally considered the most reliable type of test, though it can miss a brand-new infection or is subject to error due to a poor swabbing process.
There’s the reality that getting a PCR coronavirus test — and results — within 72 hours of travel isn’t simple in all areas of the U.S., especially in less urban places that are experiencing a surge of cases, which can lead to a temporarily diminished supply of tests and a backlog of up to seven to 10 days to get your test results.”
So after all the drama, the PCR test can still miss a new infection or have room for error.
Continuing in his startling press release, the Governor of Hawaii claimed these actions were bringing some “normalcy” to the process – as if forcing healthy families to pay for a test (that isn’t even completely accurate) is something people do every day.
“Asking passengers to get a negative COVID-19 test prior to travel is one more tool in our layered screening process that will help keep Hawai’i safe. As we navigate this pandemic, any way we can minimize risk while bringing some normalcy to our daily lives is the right path forward.”, reported the Governor of Hawaii.
Yeah, he’s actually serious.
But the scary thing is, other leftist states are likely to follow suit.
Even more horrifying is this opens the door for even more forced government regulations, blurring the lines between privacy and travel, and eliminating the freedom of choice.
What’s next? Forcing travelers to get a vaccine to board a plane?
Mandating citizens carry around a card proving they don’t have COVID-19 to enter establishments?
And even after forcing travelers to prove they don’t have COVID-19, you’d think the arrival process would be seamless, right?
Guess again.
Upon landing in Hawaii, passengers must still undergo temperature checks and fill out more “health paperwork.”
And if you think they aren’t enforcing their “quarantine” should you not have negative test results…
… many hotels all over Hawaii have adopted a “one-time entry” key card program.
Meaning you get one card to your room. If you try and leave (even to the hallway to grab a newspaper) and the door closes – you’re locked out, permanently.
Travel has officially crossed the point of insanity.
In addition to potentially being put on an internal hit list and banned from flying, travelers now face being locked inside during their vacation should they refuse to get a COVID-19 test.
With mandates like this, the “friendly” Aloha State is bound to lose the business of countless freedom lovin’ Americans.
