Nobody likes being lied to.
For months, Americans were told that if they travel or go out they were selfish and essentially guaranteeing grandma will die.
That’s quite the accusation, yeah? But in the beginning stages of COVID-19, many Americans complied as no one knew how things would shake out – until now.
No rational human being would willfully want to harm another, so when we were told flying is dangerous, COVID-19 is spreading, hospital beds are maxed out – many people fell into the fear of the unknown and did their best to comply.
But then… things started to not make sense.
We were told masks don’t work, then threatened to be banned from flying for not wearing them, back to being told masks only help if you’re sick and do nothing to protect you from others.
Many people canceled their travel plans (some not even getting a refund), then realized things weren’t as bad as they were made out to be.
Americans grew tired of staying inside and finally started to venture out and fly again!
The Cut reported:
“While nonessential travel from the U.S. is still inadvisable, especially now that cases are spiking worldwide, as long as the airports are open and the planes are still running, a lot of people are probably just going to keep doing their thing.
Some are more transparent about their motivations than others. Kira*, an entrepreneur who asked for anonymity to avoid backlash, openly acknowledges that her decision to travel didn’t involve any fraught ethical calculus but was an impulse driven out of frustration with life in lockdown. “I’d gained, like, 15 pounds. I didn’t let the housekeeper come to my apartment. I wouldn’t order, like, a salad. I was so terrified of COVID,” she says of her early days under lockdown.
After a few months of interminable Zoom calls, she changed her tune. “I was just like, I’m over it. I’m sick of, like, sitting home all day. I can’t do this anymore. I need to live my life. If I get it, I get it, whatever.”
Not surprising, leftists took to social media in attempt to shame anyone who DARED step on a plane!
Of course, this is nothing new…
…liberals are always seeking the moral high ground and how they actually “care” about the world while conservatives just want to watch it burn when the truth is it’s actually the left burning the country to the ground, but I digress.
And rich kids are flying around the world even during a pandemic – how is this even news?
They’re just doing what they always do.
Of course it would be nice to have an unlimited supply of cash to jet-set around the world – pandemic or not.
But most of us can’t afford the lifestyle of the rich and famous.
So, when we do get on a plane to visit family or travel for work, we don’t want to be shamed for it or deal with drama.
And these same hypocrites who blast us for flying find no problem with gathering in massive crowds (often not wearing masks themselves) to burn down buildings all in the name of “justice”.
I’m pretty sure your risk of catching COVID-19 is greater in a crowd of 250 angry, shouting people (often not in masks) than flying on a plane with an air filtration system that’s better than a hospital operating room.
But liberals just love to be in control of people, almost as if they get a high from ruining people’s lives in the name of “safety”.
But here’s the thing, freedom always trumps tyranny.
No one is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to travel…
… and no one is locking you up in your home to keep you from leaving (at least not yet).
So, if you don’t want to travel – don’t! Stay home! We’re totally cool with it and respect your decision.
But if we want to hop on a plane – spare us the lecture on how selfish we are and how we are endangering the lives of other people.
We are Proud American Travelers – we like to travel. And we’re not idiots – we’ll wear the dang mask and take proper precautions.
But what we won’t do is live in a bubble of fear, and stay trapped in our homes and listen to politicians who we know will use any “crisis” to exert more control over people.
