Have you ever had to cancel your vacation because you didn’t want to travel under a despotic regime?
Thankfully, the world hasn’t all gone under the pandemic’s spell of control and there are still destinations that offer the freedom to breathe fresh air and actually enjoy your trip.
So if you’re looking for the perfect place to go this summer, here’s everything you need to know before you head to this exotic and affordable destination.
We’re more than two years into the COVID-19 pandemic, and despite the lessening dangers from the virus, many countries are still enforcing harsh restrictions.
Recently in Kenya, a 13-year-old boy was accidentally shot on his balcony as military men went through the city shooting violators of the area’s COVID-19 curfew reports The Guardian.
And in India, workers are sprayed with harsh chemicals to “disinfect” them before entering into new towns, the same news agency shares.
So where do you go when you want to see more of the world without being shot at or sprayed with chemicals?
Jamaica is not only a beautiful island with near-perfect weather, but the country is welcoming travelers with open arms.
Much of the Caribbean is tourist friendly and the non-stop flights from the US to Jamaica is a hard offer to pass up.
Unfortunately, you cannot go anywhere without encountering some sort of bossy clerk trying to enforce a draconian regulation on your dreamy escape, so here is what you still need to consider.
The US State Department is currently advising Americans to reconsider traveling to Jamaica because of crime.
But just like any country, some areas are safer than others.
Regions to be wary of include Canterbury, Flankers, Glendevon, Mount Salem, Norwood, Paradise Heights, and Rose Heights.
And, of course, the CDC doesn’t want you to go anywhere without a COVID-19 vaccine, but that’s more to do with our own government’s need for control rather than your personal safety in Jamaica.
However, there are not many countries that have lifted COVID testing requirements and mask mandates – making Jamaica all the more reason to be your next destination.
The Immigration/Customs C5 form is still required and will be handed out by an airline attendant, but this holds little bearing on your travel plans.
And if you think Jamaica is a breeding ground for viruses, think again!
“Jamaica was among the first countries to be recognized by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) and its global safety and hygiene stamp that spotlights the destinations prioritizing traveler safety and hygiene in the time of COVID-19,” Travel Pulse reports.
Choose from any of the award-winning, all-inclusive resorts such as Sandals South-West Resort or Sunset at the Palms where everything you could possibly want in a vacation is right at your fingertips.
Staying in a resort will also cut down on crime considerably and provide a safe environment to soak up the rays.
Jamaica is a great vacation option for freedom-loving Americans who don’t want to sacrifice their summer getaway just because the government says you should.
So dust off your swimming trunks and sunscreen and pack for the vacation of the year!
