Toys stir up something magical inside all of us, no matter the age. And that’s what makes them such timeless and eternal gifts.
Whether it’s a nostalgic toy that reminds us of our childhood, or a thrilling toy that induces excitement and joy, being surrounded by these objects of fun adds a level of joy that can’t be beat.
So when a legendary toy company and a prestigious hotel join forces, it’s something none of us ever imagined and simultaneously can’t live without!
FAO Schwarz, best known as the toy store with the giant piano keyboard that Tom Hanks dances on in the iconic movie ‘Big,’ has had its ups and downs.
Tears were shed in 2015 when the huge doors of FAO Schwarz’s central store closed down after 153 years in business.
But now its new owners, ThreeSixty Group, is breathing new life into the business and looking to transport the classic toy store feel into our modern era.
And how do you get noticed this day and age? Social media!
In order to create an Instagram-worthy pic of some of FAO Schwarz’s best products, they’ve decided to deck the halls of an entire hotel suite at the new Conrad New York Midtown.
This 1800 sq. ft. kid paradise comes with “train sets, hobby horses, stuffed animals, toy soldiers, working DJ turntables, musical instruments, vintage Barbies and baskets full of candy,” reveals Robb Report.
If that doesn’t spark joy, I don’t know what does!
Can you imagine the look on your child’s face when they step into a room fully equipped with every toy they’ve ever imagined?
Forget about the scheduled tours – you’re going to have to call the National Guard to get your kid to leave!
The only thing that may be enticing enough to pry their fingers off the chocolate-stained toy soldier sitting in the mini electric car is a personalized tour of the new FAO Schwarz store in Rockefeller Center given by a real life-size toy soldier.
Apparently dreams can come true, because the entire store is closed during your tour for a personal shopping spree – and the first $100 is on the house!
Chief merchandising officer of FAO Schwarz, David Niggli, told Afar that the company has wanted to parter with a hotel for a project like this for some time.
“We’ve always wanted to do something like this with a hotel. To imagine the joy and wonder that will captivate guests from the minute they open the door—it’s magical.”
And don’t worry about falling in love with a toy from the suite because every item is available for purchase and can be shipped right to your door.
For a $3,000 a night, you can book the FAO Schwarz Holiday Suite package, which is available for booking from November 18, 2019 through January 5, 2020.
If you want to keep your pockets a little padded for the holiday season, you can book a regular suite at the Conrad for a bit less and still have access to an “in-room toy menu.”
This offers wish-list items to be delivered to your room for immediate enjoyment, or to your doorstep for a welcoming surprise when you get home.
If you couldn’t think of the perfect holiday retreat, well here it is.
Just be prepared to haul a trailer on the way home, because this won’t be your usual souvenir load.
