Despite Biden’s tyrannical attempt to keep Americans locked in their homes – Proud American Travelers are hitting the skies in record numbers.
American Airlines weren’t prepared for the rush of folks, so they’re scrambling to meet the demand – and canceling nearly 80 flights PER DAY due to poor planning.
And as a result of airline chaos, travelers are yet again paying extra fees and scrambling to find new flights. But wait until you hear what the airlines are up to now.
While leftist politicians hoped people would just “stay home” this summer, Americans have had ENOUGH and want to travel.
Of course, out-of-touch airlines weren’t prepared for the rush of folks – so they didn’t have the staff to man the planes.
Delta tried to compensate by actually asking their own airline pilots to “volunteer” their free time to stock food and clean lounges…
… and American Airlines begged their staff to volunteer for 6-hour shifts to help people “find their way around the airport.”
Madness!
But it still wasn’t enough.
You see, American Airlines furloughed a bunch of staff.
We’re talking 19,000 employees.
Many of those employees found other jobs… and for those who waited around, training lapsed and so employees aren’t able to be reinstated until they finish their new training.
As a result, American Airlines doesn’t have enough employees to keep up with the summer travel demand.
Looks like American Airlines is learning the hard way not to underestimate the power of keeping around good employees.
INC reported.
“Your company may be a great place to work, but employees have more choices than ever, especially those with hard-to-acquire skills such as flying or maintaining an airplane. The time is past when you could send people home and expect to bring them back whenever you were ready.
Companies in all industries are so fond of saying that their “greatest asset is our people” that it’s become a badly overused phrase. In today’s tight labor market, many are learning the hard way just how true it is.”
Frontier Airlines also took some heat from trying to pass a “COVID-19 recovery” fee onto passengers to help pay back Frontier’s loan from the government and increase “sanitation protocols” on their flights.
In fact, they took so much heat they’ve “rescinded” the fee…
USA Today reported:
“The charge, which was included in the airline’s total promoted fare versus an add-on fee, was meant to provide transparency and delineate what portion of the fare was going toward Covid-related business recovery, including repayment of a CARES Act loan from the U.S. government,” Kramer said.
“However, to avoid misinterpretation, the airline will discontinue the practice of breaking out this category within its overall promoted fares.”
Look we get it.
COVID-19 wrecked the travel industry for nearly a year.
Clearly airlines felt the brunt of it.
But so did American travelers.
Politicians tried to keep us locked in our homes (or hotels) and even succeeded in some states – like Hawaii.
Airlines were busted for refusing to refund canceled flights, while many third-party travel sites went dark not only after canceling traveler’s vacations – but stealing their cash too.
And let’s be honest, travelers shouldn’t have to pay the price for the TSA not having enough employees – nor should they be expected to wait up to 8 hours before they can board their plane.
And sure, some flight cancellations have been blamed on “weather” – but the weather has zero impact on the nearly 1,000 flights that have been canceled in the upcoming weeks.
So if you’re traveling this summer – rock on. You deserve it.
Have fun. Get out there and make up for lost time.
But brace yourself, because you’ll likely have to wait in long lines at the airport.
And if you’re flying American Airlines – you better make sure your flight is still a go.
After all, they do have a history of even banning passengers and not bothering to tell them until after they show up to the airport – so be prepared for anything.
