Many people think vacations should always include family or a group of friends . . .
. . . but some of the best trips of your life can happen if you travel alone.
Wondering why you should book a solo trip this summer?
You Can Do Whatever You Want
When you take a trip with other people – there is always the “compromise” element of vacationing.
Maybe you really want a good steak . . .
. . . but the group wants a slice of greasy pizza or street food.
Or perhaps you want to get out and travel exploring hidden locations where the locals frequent…
… but the rest of your travel buddies would rather visit a tourist trap.
However, if you travel solo, you can literally do whatever you want, whenever you want.
You can truly make your own itinerary and cross everything off your list without having to sacrifice something you really want to see for the “greater good” of the group.
Less Logistical Nightmares
Traveling is chaotic anyway.
Even for a solo traveler.
But when you have a group of people – that all need seats on a plane – and all have to make it on time and get through security . . .
. . . it adds a layer of what can go wrong.
There’s always the one friend who “runs late” or who “misses her flight” and has to catch a later flight.
Or the one who wants to take the “flight credit” so voluntarily gives up his seat promising to meet the group at the final destination in a day or two.
From connecting flights – to canceled flights – to getting everyone to make their planes (especially if they are traveling from different airports) it can be a logistical nightmare to make it to the final destination.
And then once you arrive you have to worry about sleeping arrangements, rental cars, and other logistical pieces.
But when you travel solo – it’s just you!
You are only responsible for getting yourself from your home to your final destination, and this peace of mind is priceless.
An Adventure
And finally, there is an adrenalin rush that comes with traveling to a new place by yourself.
You literally know no one, so you are forced to strike up a conversation with a stranger or interact with the locals to get the best vacation experience.
But a word of caution to female travelers – make sure you exercise wisdom and discernment when traveling alone.
Don’t leave your beverage unattended ever, even to go to the bathroom.
Make sure your loved ones at least know where you are staying, and be alert of your surroundings when walking at night.
So if you’ve never taken a trip by yourself and are looking for a fun adventure this summer – give a solo vacation a try – you may just never go back to traveling in groups again!
Would you ever travel alone?
If not, what is your biggest hesitation?
