2) Charlottesville, Virginia
Similar to the historic sites in Richmond, Charlottesville is also home to many memorials of prominent soldiers and generals from the Civil War. Also like Richmond, Charlottesville’s monuments have been faced with much controversy as of late. Liberal protesters at the University of Virginia and the local area want the statues removed. They feel they glorify the slave trade, when in actuality, these monuments were erected to preserve a significant moment in history so as not to forget it. The statues were made with great technical skill, and are definitely a sight to see.
